(Transcribed by TurboScribe. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) There is a very long list of reasons why your natural solutions for your gut health, in this case, specifically even IBD, they're not working. And there's a reason why, there's many reasons why, but it doesn't mean that natural solutions don't work. It simply means that you're just doing it wrong. It's that simple. And so today, you're finally going to learn the difference between taking, we'll call them plant-based medications, and actually finding the root cause in reversing your bowel issues naturally. And I'm going to give you an outline for healing it naturally, because we know all chronic inflammatory diseases have a root cause. Therefore, when we remove that root cause, they can become reversible. We just have to fix it and figure out why it's happening. Contrary to what your doctors told you, Crohn's and Colitis are reversible. Now, I've helped hundreds of people reverse their bowel disease, and I'm here to help you do it too, because inflammation always has a root cause. We just have to find it. This is the Reversing Crohn's and Colitis Naturally podcast. Now, I do these live trainings in my Facebook group every single week, and put the audios here for you to listen to. If you want to watch the video versions of these episodes, just click the link in the show notes to get access to our Facebook group and YouTube channel. What's going on? You're, she's in tears laughing. I have no idea why. Cool. I'm going to look at the, thank you. I'm going to look at the photo later. Perfect. So, whatever you guys happen to see, that's going to be great. Thank you. So, if we haven't met yet, my name is Josh Deck. I'm an IBD specialist, physician's consultant, and researcher, and I'm here to help you learn how to heal yourself naturally. Now, of course, all of the questions that you may have at the end, if you want to see that photo at the end of whatever Kate is laughing hysterically at, we'll make sure you get to see that too, because now I'm curious. All right. So, here's the deal. Today's topic came up when someone actually emailed me last week and they're asking if there's anything I can do to actually help them. They said, I'm already, their words, they said, I'm already doing grounding, cold therapy. I'm eating really well. I'm using infrared light. I'm actively working on calming my nervous system and I'm ordering peptides like BPC-157 and others. And so, they asked as a follow-up, what would be the real added value in your approach compared to I'm already doing? And I thought, well, obviously, but I realized at the moment, it's not so obvious to everybody. Here's the thing. You're using a lot of plant-based medication. So, you got all these therapies on board. So, let's look what you got in your life. Maybe you're taking vitamins, you're taking proteins, you're doing cold therapies, you're doing red light therapy, you've tried acupuncture, you're doing all these things and wondering why you're not getting better. Well, imagine this for just a minute. If I have got, let me draw my prime artistry here. I got a house, which clearly needs architectural improvement, but I've got a house, okay? And my house is on fire. It's sad. The house is burning down. And you go, oh, I got to take care of that. My house is burning down. I know. I'm going to start throwing lumber on top of the fire. I'm going to start putting on new shingles. I'm going to renovate my bathroom. While the house is on fire, are you sure about that? Here's the thing. You're taking all these reparative measures for your body, cold therapy, dietary improvements, red light, nervous system work, peptide work, all these things that heal and repair your body. Great. You're trying to heal and repair your house while it's burning down. You haven't even stopped. You go, whoa, whoa, whoa. What caused the fire? Where's the gas leak? Am I at risk for that coming back again? It's actively on fire. I got to put that out first. There's so many bridges to cross before you start throwing repair tools at your body. If you start throwing repair tools at your body, you're under the impression that your house spontaneously combusts. It just lights itself on fire for absolutely no rhyme or reason. And because of that, you're going to keep repairing it every time it burns down. I subscribe to the fact that there is something causing the fire. There is a gas leak. Someone left the stove on. Ryan started the fire and left a cheesy pita in the oven. Whatever it happens to be, there's a reason why your house is on fire. So you are just using what I call plant-based medication. All these herbs and supplements and things to manage your symptoms without actually addressing the reason why you're inflamed. Medications do that. May as well take the misalamine. May as well get on Stelara. May as well get on the prednisone or the budesonide or whatever drugs you're using. May as well be on them because if you're not looking for the root cause, you're only looking to repair the damage it is doing. It's no different. To beat this thing with more analogies, you got a nail stuck in your foot and you just use numbing cream for the rest of your life. You're not looking for the nail. My job is to help you find the nail. So here's what you need to know about this because I'm not interested in building a burning house. I'm interested in figuring out where the gas leak is coming from. So what you need to know, I'm just going to outline for you all the things you need to know about disease. Let's keep it really simple. We're going to go two, three, and three. That's it. Two, three, and three. There are two types of illness that you can get. That is really all, right? First is going to be a structural illness. The other is functional. Now it's become very apparent to me I need a new marker. Anyway, you have structural and functional. What is the difference? Let's say you got satellite TV and you go outside and I'm going to back that up. You got satellite TV and you go sit inside. You turn on your TV and you're not getting a clear picture. You can't see it. It's fuzzy. It's blurry. It's cutting in and out. Now there are one of two things that are wrong. Number one, you're in Canada and a moose head-butted your satellite dish and destroyed it. Hmm, that's weird. Now that satellite needs to be replaced. It's broken. Where did I come up with a moose story? Well, it happened to my father-in-law. A moose thought his satellite dish had a horn and thought it was a moose and head-butted it. Anyway, you damaged the satellite. It's physically broken. That is a difficult repair. It has to be replaced. That is a structural problem. The functional issue, let's say the moose head-butts it but doesn't do any damage, it's just a little out of alignment. You just got to realign the satellite, get it back to where it needs to be, and boom, your picture shows up all over again. So the differences we're looking at here is there is a structural and a functional type of illness. Structural, let's talk about bowels. Let's say you had part of your bowel removed or you've been in a horrible accident or you're in, I don't know, 12th century London, you've been drawn and quartered. These are structural issues you can't fix. Functional, something threw your body off a kilter and it just hasn't been able to realign itself. It's typically a pretty simple fix. So it is a structural versus functional problem. Bowel disease is not a structural problem. Irritable bowel syndrome is not a structural problem. Diverticulitis, diverticulosis, Crohn's, whatever labels you want to throw on them, they are not structural. Until you physically had surgery where you actually got scar tissue, then there are structural components. But the reason why you're inflamed is something got into your body leading to dysfunction. That something is one of three things. Oh, that's such a much better marker. That's going to be toxins, microbes, and deficiencies. There's a reason I hammer this nearly every conversation, every video I do, every podcast I do, I hammer toxins, microbes, deficiencies. So we know there are two types of illnesses you can get, structural and functional. 99.9% chance, having never spoken to you before, total stranger on the internet, your issue is functional. There is something that misaligned your body's signals and its functions. It is now dysfunctional, leading to inflammation symptoms, et cetera. And the things that do that are toxins, microbes, deficiencies. Toxins can be anything from chronically high stress, chronically high blood sugar. It can be mold in your environment, pesticides, junky tap water. It can be dietary issues and eating junk food all the time. Like all these things, there's millions of toxins. There's countless toxins you can get. Microbes, simple as parasites, viruses, bacteria, and fungus. That's it. You have too much or too little of those things. Deficiencies, same thing. Too much or too little microbes, you might have an imbalance or a lack of vitamins or omegas or nutrients. It could be a lack of sunshine and fresh air, a lack of exercise and movement. It could be a lack of a lot of things because your body needs tools to rebuild your burning house. You need a construction crew. You need lumber. You need all these things. If you're deficient in them, even when you remove the toxins and the microbes, you'll never have the tools you need to rebuild. It's that simple. So you get sick because a structural or functional issue and that is typically going to be functional the almost 100% of the time due to toxins, microbes, deficiencies. There are no other reasons why you get sick. Now, I've hammered this conversation hundreds of times, hundreds of times, but here's something you need to know. If there are two types of illnesses and three things that make you get sick, there are also three things that get you back to wellness. And this gentleman who sent this email in and said, look, I'm using infrared light. I'm working on my nervous system and doing peptides and grounding and cold therapy and diet and all these things. They're doing all these things to heal. So you might be wondering why they're not healing. Let me get to that. So if you want to heal, you need to have proper inputs. You need to have proper environments and you need proper recovery. What does that mean? Well, if toxins, microbes, deficiencies are big umbrellas of mold and stress and chemicals and bacteria and viruses and nutrient deficiencies and lack of exercise or sunlight and, you know, bummer relationships that just suck your energy out. Well, your inputs are a lot of those things. Are you getting enough sunlight? Are you inputting the right nutrients? Are you inputting a good diet? Are you inputting good sleep? Sleep also fits under recovery. How are you recovering? Well, this person who emailed me is doing grounding and cold therapy. They're eating well. That's inputs and that's recovery. If you're getting exercise and sunlight and fresh air, those are inputs in recovery. If you're getting outside more often, you've renovated your home and check for mold, that's environments. You're basically inputs, environments, recoveries. Improving these is the opposite of all the toxins, microbes, deficiencies. So, this fellow who emailed me and said, well, I'm grounding. I'm doing cold therapy. I'm eating well. I'm getting infrared light, getting into the sun. I'm exercising. I'm calming my nervous system. I'm even looking at peptides like BPC. Cool. You have addressed your inputs, your environments, and your recoveries to manage your functional issue. You have missed 30% of the reasons why you're sick or at least 30% of the process here. But you missed 100% of the reasons why you're sick. You haven't addressed the toxins, microbes, deficiencies. If you're only taking all these supplements, all these medications, doing all these therapies, taking all the peptides, doing the infrared, doing the breathwork, you are making great strides in inputs, environments, recovery. But if you are not addressing the toxins, the microbes, and deficiencies, you are trying to build your house while it is on fire. And you're wondering why it keeps burning down. So, when someone asks what's the value to your approach compared to what I'm already doing, it's everything. It's nothing like what you're doing. In fact, what you're doing, they're great tools. But it's at the wrong place, in the wrong time, in the wrong order, in the wrong way. You're missing steps. It's like framing a house and turning it upside down on its roof and putting it on top of sand. And you wonder why your house keeps collapsing. So, the idea here is your issue is going to be functional. Again, unless you were sliced across the abdomen with a sword and your gut spilled out in the full of scar tissue, that's a structural problem, which can lead to toxins accumulating, microbial imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and on and on. Yeah. But something tells me most of you have not been slashed across the gut with a sword or drawn and quartered. You're not trying to seppuku yourself. Okay. So, what we're talking about is a functional issue driven by toxins, microbes, deficiencies. But right now, so many people go, yeah, well, natural doesn't work. I've done all the things. I'm taking all the remedies. Again, you're improving your inputs, your recovery. You're not dealing with these main things. And one does not work without the other. So, if you've heard the term, well, natural doesn't work. People say that all the time. It's as simple as this. I'll tell you exactly why natural doesn't work. You're doing it wrong. Now, there's really three, since we're on the rules of twos, threes, and threes. All right. Let's talk about another rule of three. You have your structural and functional. That's your two. You have your toxins, microbes, deficiencies, why you get sick. You have your inputs, environments, recoveries, how you heal. And there are three primary reasons why your natural does not work. Number one is going to be belief. Now, I'm not saying kumbaya. If you believe it will happen, bullshit. No, I'm a scientist, not a lunatic. But here's the thing. If you truly believe that your disease is this genetic random thing, there's nothing you can do. It happened because God plays favorites and he just happens to hate you. If you believe that your disease just came out of nowhere and there's no rhyme or reason why it's happening, then sure, you're only ever going to try to manage it with medication or manage it with products like herbs or whatever it is. Because if it's got no rhyme or reason to be there, then it means there's nothing that caused it. Therefore, there is no solution. So your belief system is wrong because you don't understand how the body actually works. Inflammation is a healing response there to help you recover from a threat, repair damage, defend you from something that shouldn't be there. You can't be inflamed for no reason. That goes against everything we know about the processes of inflammation. So if you believe that your illness has no root cause, you're actually anti-science. Not the natural people, you. So what you're doing is using either herbs, plant-based medication, or pharmaceutical-based medication to manage your symptoms. It's that simple. So your belief system is wrong because you're not actually understanding the science you're obeying or abiding by the rhetoric and the dogma of a Western medical system who give a shit less if you ever get better. Number one, so you believe that you can never get better and there's no rhyme or reason for your illness. You can only manage it. That's the number one reason why natural won't work. The number two reason why, again, it's not number one, number two. It's one and two, not in order. But let's say you are actually missing steps. Like the gentleman who emailed me. Peptides and infrared and cold therapies and diet. Cool. You're missing the entire root cause approach. You're not addressing your root causes at all. You're just adjusting your inputs, your environments, your recoveries. You've never addressed the toxins, microbes, deficiencies. You got to deal with the microbiome, the immune system, removing the toxins. You got to do all these different things. And this is why I go through my D in 5R process. The D is for drainage, right? Getting open bile flow and lymphatics and all these things. But you have to first R is remove the illness. This guy who emailed me has done everything but remove the reason why he's sick and he's still sick. That's why it's happening. If you remove the illnesses, then you can go on to the next R, which is replenish. Those are your inputs. Food and nutrients and sleep and relationships. Then you can go on to repairing and rebuilding the gut microbiome and the gut wall or the gut lining. These different aspects that keep your gut healed and sealed and healthy and strong. Then after this, once everything is stabilized, there's nothing left to destabilize your immune system. Now you can go back to rebalancing, rejuvenating your immune system and bringing it back into play. So you're missing steps. You jumped ahead. You're doing all these healing therapies. There's no root cause to it whatsoever. You go, oh, natural doesn't work. No, no, no. You just did it wrong. The third thing that we see when people go, oh, it doesn't work is your healing process is not linear. That is supposed to be an A. That's not two E's. I know how to spell the word linear. But anyway, so it's not linear. You go, oh, well I did drainage. I got the mold out of my house and I did some binders and I went through some probiotics and the things and I'm not better yet. I'm a little better, but I'm not the best. Therefore, natural doesn't work. No, no, no. It's not always linear. Sometimes you have to go back and forth from root to root. Sometimes you have to do a little repair while you're doing this thing. Sometimes you got to jump around like freaking Seabiscuit because there's no one way to get it done because your body is unique. Your layers are complex and your puzzle goes together the way your puzzle goes together in a way that's unique to you. Generally speaking, if you address toxins, microbes, deficiencies and you fix those and then you go through your inputs, environments, recoveries, generally speaking, you will get better. At the very least, you'll see improvement. No doubt. The question is your ceiling is as high as your investigative prowess. If you're missing steps and you're not digging into it deep enough, you're not asking the right questions, you're never going to get better. Never assume you've hit a ceiling. Never assume it's just genetic. It doesn't work that way. It's as simple as that. It simply means you've missed some steps. There's things you have not tested for or possibly yes, your immune system has been thrown out of kilter and now we have to go through some very high level, I should say very, very deep stuff into getting your immune system to rebalance. But that's very rare. I've seen maybe two or three clients out of the 600 plus I've seen now in my practice who actually had true immunological dysfunction where we had to go back and start rebuilding that, which is a very timely process. Everybody else, the 99.5%, 99.9% is just that they missed steps and have to go back and ask the questions again and again until they get all the layers complete. So the number one reason why natural doesn't work is what? You're doing it wrong. That's all there is to it. And this is the method to actually get you back to being better. And that's the framework that everyone needs to learn how to follow because once you can understand it and interpret it, you can then get better. So now's the chance we're going to turn over to the questions. So here's what I want to do for you right about now. If this is feeling like a mouthful and a half, like you're drinking from a fire hose, you're not alone. It happens a lot. There's a reason we're here to help. I put everything I can online for free for the world. The world needs this information. You need this information. It's going to help you get better. But I realized I've been doing this for, I've been in the health medical space for, I've been in medicine and health for, I started in college as a paramedic when I was 17. I mean, if you count that as learning health and biology, so you could argue it's been 15, 16 years. But here's what you got to look at. If this isn't making sense to you or it feels a little overwhelming, you can work with us directly. That's easy enough. I'm going to show you exactly how you can do that. If you're on YouTube or you're listening on the podcast, you want help. There's links down below the video or underneath the podcast in the show notes. You can send an email, schedule a call, whatever it is you need. We're here to help. We just want to make sure you get what you need. On that note, we'll turn over to the questions. No questions over there? Oh my goodness. Well, you guys are a bummer. Either I suck at this or, and I don't, I'm really great at this. Let me see. We got some questions. We don't have any questions over on Facebook either. Well, fuck me then. That's fine. Guys, wonderful. So that's it. It's all we got for you for today. Thanks so much for being here. We're going to see you on the next time. On the next time. On the next of the times. One of my favorite things to hear as an IBD specialist is something along the lines of, I learned more from you in 15 minutes than from my doctor in 15 years. And if this for the first time is really starting to click and it's starting to make sense, you're going, wait a minute, this might be reversible. I think there's more that I can do. This condition came out of nowhere. It happened to me out of the blue. I was healthy for 10, 20, 30, 40 years, and suddenly I wasn't. And you're telling me there's no cause. If you're understanding finally that there is a cause, that something is driving this, I want to invite you to check the link in the show notes below. Send me an email, ask a question, see if a program is right fit for you. Because I promise you, this doesn't have to be a lifelong sentence. You're not doomed to this, and IBD can be reversed.
